Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, born in 1989 in New York City to Puerto Rican parents, became the youngest woman ever elected to Congress when she won NY-14 in 2018 at age 29. A democratic socialist and former bartender, she is the most prominent progressive voice in national Democratic politics. She polls at 11% in the 2028 Democratic primary with particularly strong support among voters under 30.
